Turn PNG and JPG images into clean SVG vectors
Curvewise is a free image to SVG converter. Drop in a logo, an icon, pixel art or a photo and get back smooth vector shapes you can scale to any size, edit in Illustrator, Figma or Inkscape, or send to a cutting machine. It all happens in your browser, so your image is never uploaded.
How it works
- Drop your imageDrag a PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP or BMP onto the page, paste it from the clipboard, or pick a file.
- Let it traceCurvewise finds the colours, splits the image into regions, follows their outlines and fits smooth Bézier curves to them.
- Download the SVGCompare the result with the original using the slider, adjust detail or colours if you like, then download or copy the SVG.
What it is good for
- Logos and iconsRebuild a logo from a low-resolution PNG so it stays sharp on a billboard or a business card.
- Pixel artKeep crisp pixel steps or turn them into smooth curves, depending on the image type you choose.
- Cutting machines and lasersShapes sit side by side without overlapping, which suits Cricut, Silhouette, vinyl cutters and laser engravers.
- Scanned drawingsTurn a sketch or a stamp into clean vector outlines you can recolour and resize.
- PhotosGet a poster-style vector made of flat colour patches, useful for illustrations and prints.
- Web graphicsReplace heavy bitmaps with small SVGs that look sharp on every screen density.
Why Curvewise
- PrivateThe converter runs on your device with WebAssembly. No upload, no account, no queue.
- ExactFor smooth-edged images, curves are fitted so that redrawing them reproduces each pixel's partial coverage, not just a rough outline.
- SeamlessNeighbouring shapes share the same edge curve, so there are no hairline gaps between colours.
- FreeNo watermark and no limit on how many images you convert.
Tips for the best result
- Start big and cleanThe largest, least compressed version of an image gives the smoothest curves. Heavy JPEG artefacts turn into lumps.
- Tune detailIf small specks appear, lower the detail. If thin parts disappear, raise it.
- Set the coloursIf you know how many colours a logo has, pick that number. Each option shows its palette before you choose.
Questions
Is Curvewise free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no limit on the number of images and no watermark on the SVG.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs on your device inside the browser. The image never leaves your computer or phone.
Which file types can I convert to SVG?
PNG, JPG/JPEG, GIF, WebP and BMP, or anything else your browser can open as an image. Transparent PNGs keep their transparency.
How large can the image be?
Images up to about 4 megapixels are traced at full size. Larger images are scaled down first so the conversion stays fast.
Can I use the SVG files commercially?
Curvewise puts no restrictions on the files it creates. You still need the rights to the image you converted.
Why does my photo look like a poster?
SVG shapes have flat colours, so a photo becomes many small colour patches. Choose High detail and All colours to keep it closer to the original.
